Can a second or two of delay be invoked _via_ the xfsm-shutdown-helper? fetchmail is a daemon, and thus not part of a desktop. By way of confirmation, my entropy file, which is written out by an rc.d script, has not been written to for a week (I shut-down most nights). I don't recall doing anything then. The problem I have is that every time I shutdown it says that there is 1 update to install, it has been doing this since February 1, 2008. I went to the Microsoft web pages and found an article on how to diagnose and fix this, but no luck. I then opened a case with HP support using their chat function.
